Intensive Family Support Worker
Job description
A Family Support Worker is required to be part of the Integrated Family Support Service, working with families in Ceredigion that are in crisis, struggling to manage and this is affecting their care of the children.
The post requires a willingness to work directly with families in times of crisis in their family home, therefore personal experience, enthusiasm
and the ability to communicate effectively with all could be of equal merit to qualifications. The post will work as part of a team providing both emotional and practical support to families; this will involve working in the family home often in evenings, early mornings and at the weekend. The post will be challenging but also in our experience very rewarding as you will be part of a team making real changes to families that are at breaking point.
The post is part of the ongoing transformation of services within Ceredigion Council to provide a through age service in terms of supporting the entire family using a strength based approach using the Signs of Safety model.
The post will provide support to children and parents in order to:
To safeguard and support children and young people
To assist parents with all aspects of parenting
To ensure children are safe at home
To reduce the number of children that become "Looked After" in Ceredigion.
We are looking to recruit an individual who can evidence:
Ability to form constructive working relationships with colleagues, communities and other networks
Excellent interpersonal skills required, with an ability to effectively engage with children, young people and families
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively evidencing strong written and oral skills
Ability to demonstrate good organizational skills
Good ICT skills with the ability to use basic programmes to enable effective record keeping and reporting
Undertake appropriate training to contribute to professional development and skills.
Ability to work flexibly and proactively
Applicant should hold a valid driving license with access to a car
