Required from January 2020 (or at earliest release from current post).
Due to the recent appointment of our Deputy Headteacher to the Headteacher post, the governors of Plascrug are seeking to appoint a dedicated and inspirational Deputy Headteacher who will provide support and assistance to the new Headteacher
and aid in the effective and efficient management of the school.
Plascrug is a large, highly successful bilingual primary school, with a significant number of pupils who have English as an Additional Language on roll. Estyn reported in 2018 that
"Ysgol Plascrug is a happy, caring, and diverse community where all pupils are valued equally and nearly all make excellent progress. Pupils show outstanding sensitivity and respect towards their peers and describe their school as an exciting and welcoming place that has a happy, family feeling"
Estyn also highlighted the;
"extremely effective working relationship between staff and pupils, based on consistently high expectations, challenge and support."
and reported that the school leaders,
"provide highly effective strategic leadership based on a strong and consistent focus on maintaining high standards of attainment and wellbeing. All staff share this clear vision for continuous improvement."
We are keen to ensure that the school continues to thrive and embrace the opportunities of the future. We wish to appoint an experienced individual with excellent leadership and management qualities who will:
promote high standards of achievement;
influence colleagues by setting an example as an organised and conscientious role model;
consult and offer constructive advice to the Headteacher in areas which would be advantageous to the school;
liaise with staff, pupils and parents to encourage an effective working ethos;
be competent in deputising for the Headteacher in situations arising due to short and long term absences.
The successful candidate will possess:
a shared vision for the future development of this well-established community focused school;
a sound understanding of and a strong commitment to the development of effective learning practices throughout the whole school;
strong communication, interpersonal, management and organisational skills;
a sound knowledge of current educational developments and practices;
a commitment to on-going professional development and team building;
a strong commitment to supporting the extra-curricular activities of the school and developing links with the Governors, local community, local schools and the Urdd.
The main responsibilities of this post are to:
Manage Staff Personal Professional Development
Provide Support with School Financial Procedures
Manage Monitoring Procedures
